When and where is this camp?

June 18-June 21, 2026

  • Thursday-Saturday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Sunday: 7:00 AM-12:00 PM

Tabor Academy (Marion, MA)

  • Secondary site at Watuppa Rowing (Fall River, MA)

Describe the style of this camp…

While we are very intentional in our programming, coaching, and overall experience, this camp is not a “high performance” camp. Our goal is to create an environment where athletes of many backgrounds can learn, experiment, laugh off the bad strokes, and enjoy the process of rowing and growing together.

We ask all participants—regardless of experience level—to show up with a beginner’s mindset ready to learn alongside new teammates, roll with the punches, try new things, and grow in whatever seat or boat they’re placed in. Our focus is on good vibes, lifting each other up, having open dialogues, sharing insights, and creating positive energy over “chasing speed” (though you’ll absolutely leave with skills that can make that happen!)

If you’re excited to dive into learning, connect with other masters rowers, and create some great memories on and off the water, this camp will be a great fit.

Will I get individual coaching?

Absolutely—but here’s what that looks like.

Our coaching is built around group themes that we introduce before practice and then reinforce through carefully designed practice plans and drills. Throughout the session, we give group cues to help everyone work on the same element of the stroke, and we also look for moments to give individuals more specific feedback.

We regularly incorporate video review as well, discussing both the overall themes and individual observations. And of course, we’re always happy to spend extra time answering questions or digging deeper with athletes who request it.

That said, these camps are not private lessons. Participants are expected to take an active role in their own learning—listening for the group cues, working within the system, and asking questions or requesting clarification when they want more detail.

We’re not mind readers! If you take initiative, you’ll leave with plenty of useful information and insights to bring back to your rowing at home

What is the athlete-to-coach ratio?

This varies depending on enrollment, with a maximum of 6 athletes per coach for sculling or mixed camps and 8 athletes per coach for sweeping-specific camps.

What does a typical day at camp look like?

6:00–7:00 AM – Breakfast
7:30–9:30 AM – Water Practice #1
10:00–11:00 AM – Snack & Educational Seminar
11:00 AM–1:00 PM – Water Practice #2
1:00–2:00 PM – Lunch
2:00–3:00 PM – Midday Break
3:00–4:00 PM – Additional Seminar
4:00–9:00 PM – Free time, evening activities, team hangouts

Note: This is a camp designed to build technical consistency, aerobic capacity, and race-readiness—not a typical rowing vacation (although there will be down time and plenty of team bonding fun!).

Expect purposeful practices, clear feedback, and structured work, with relaxing and community building activities in the evenings.

Final itinerary subject to change based on conditions, group composition, etc.

What kinds of educational seminars can I expect?

Seminar topics are tailored to the group’s racing goals and may include:

✅ Stroke efficiency & sweep technical models
✅ Race plan development
✅ Mental performance strategies
✅ Coxswain communication for sweep boats
✅ Strength training for power & durability
✅ Mastering the start sequence
✅ Managing training load during racing season
…and more!

What will campers do during evening downtime?

Evenings are open for rest or optional group activities such as:

  • Visiting Marion’s waterfront spots

  • Team social time on campus

  • Unstructured erg or mobility sessions

  • Recovery walks or sunset bay views

  • Crew bonding time in the dorms

  • Squash, volleyball, and other campus games

A detailed list of optional activities and local recommendations will be sent before camp.

What is the registration cost and what’s included?

Before April 1:

  • Day Camper (2 meals/day, no housing): $895

  • All-Inclusive Camper (on-campus housing + 3 meals/day): $995

After April 1: $995/$1095

A NOTE ON THE DORMS: They are single or double occupancy, with communal bathrooms (separated by gender). These are NOT hotel quality, but rather will bring you back to “freshmen year” in college. You will need to bring your own bedding, towels, etc. and it will be very rudimentary. If you are looking for a luxury experience, you may want to consider the day camper option. Reach out to us for photos of an example dorm!

Both registration types include:
✔️ All coaching & instruction
✔️ Access to boats and all equipment
✔️ Two water sessions per day
✔️ All seminars & group meetings
✔️ Video footage when applicable
✔️ On-Campus Housing + Meals (Day Campers have 2 meals/day)
✔️ Coxswain support (we provide coxswains!)
✔️ Select camp merchandise

Bringing your team or several teammates? Contact us for group pricing for 4+ athletes!

Should I come solo or can I bring my crew?

Both are great!

  • If you come solo, we will put you with a variety of other rowers (and new friends).

  • You can bring your entire sweep lineup and work specifically on your boat for racing season.

  • You may have a few mixed sessions with other athletes, but we do our best to honor lineup goals!

Will you provide coxswains?

Absolutely—however, if your coxswain wants to attend, have them reach out!

Are there any age, gender, or skill restrictions?

This camp is open to all adult rowers (18+) with sweep experience (at least 1 full season, or equivalent*) or advanced* scullers interested in learning to sweep.

*Unsure if this applies to you? Reach out to us and we can talk through it!

What training sites will be used?

Most sessions occur at Tabor Academy (“School by the Sea”), offering a beautiful and technically rich sweep training environment.

  • Full fleet of 8+s and 4+s

  • Indoor rowing tank for focused blade work

  • Classrooms

  • Fitness center with weight room

  • Cafeteria, dorms, and recreational gathering spaces

We also utilize Watuppa Rowing Center (Fall River, MA) as an alternate site for:

  • A change in scenery and access to 2-s

  • Wind contingency

  • Requires car-pooling
